My Passion for Storytelling

I've always loved telling a good story. For ten years I worked at a historic site and in that time I told the same story thousands of times, but not once did I tire of telling it! Each audience was a whole new challenge to me. Most of them had never heard the story before, so how could I craft it in such a way (with dates, times and facts in place) that it would come alive for them and not be boring for me? I found the answer came through the art of story telling.

Since then, I've spent hours pouring over the stories of people, long gone from this earth, who dedicated their lives to building the town that I live in. It makes me sad that so many of their stories are sitting lifeless in boxes and file folders. Who were they? What did they do? What compelled them to pioneer the beautiful, if not tempestuous, state of Minnesota? Their lives inspire me and beg me to write. Who else will tell their tales?

So I have taken my love for the written word, my passion for telling a good story, inspiration from people who went before me and the skills I learned at weaving a tale, and put it all into my writing. I am doing what I love to do and I hope others will love it, too.
